Anime Introductions! From Previous Newsletters

"by Ronin"
ToraDora - it means 'Tiger and Dragon'. It's another tsundere school-life love-comedy featuring Rie Kugimiya!! Her character is Aisaka Taiga with the nicknamed 'Palmtop Tiger' : small and cute, but vicious when annoyed. Our male protagonist is the opposite. Blessed with a mean visage from his deceased gangster father, underneath he is a soft-hearted guy with an unhealthy interest in doing houseworks. Due to a misunderstanding involving the misplacement of a love letter, the duo discover their love interested is the other person's best friend. They form a team in order to help each another, but it doesn't take a genius to figure out how it'll end given the title.
To Aru Majutsu no Index : Another loli-centric anime, but this time the main girl is like a "marshmallow". It's from the same team who animated Shana, down to the singer of the OP. This will be the peak 'supernatural action' anime this season. The story takes place in a school academy where every student has a supernatural ability except for our protagonist. Instead, he has the 'anti-power': a touch of his
right hand will nullify everything supernatural. Unfortunate for him, it also nullify his luck, and his life is an unbroken chain of misfortune. The latest unfortunate event comes in the form of a loli-nun he found hanging on his balcony. Her name is Index, and she is the keeper of over 10,000 magical tomes. Their fateful meeting eventually lead our protagonist into various battle against all manner of magic and supernatural users.
CLANNAD After Story : A continuation of the first season, it starts off with the cast coming together for a game of baseball. KyotoAnime is once again SUPREB!! Be warned though, the 'After Story' has a rather dark undertone, and I'm glad they're not doing Tomoyo After..
Gundam 00 S2 #1 : ORE WA GUNDAM DA!! 4 years has passed since the event of the first season, and Saji's already unfortunate life takes a turn for the worse. His sister dead, his girlfriend went missing, and now he's falsely arrested for INSURRECTION against the new world government!! Sent to the space equivalent of a 'salt mine', a failed jailbreak threaten to end his short and extremely unfortunately life until his former neighbour shows up and saves him. Yes, Setsuna is back!! 4 years after Celestial Being was defeated, the world has descended into a new cycle of oppression, so it's up to the CB to put things right again - by KILLING EVERYONE!!
EF - A Tales of Melodies. It's once again GODLY!!! A continuation of the first season, this time the story focus on Yuu x Yokko and Mizuki (the blonde haired girl who likes Kei) and the adult violinist. The direction and music is once again superb, as with the storyline and voice acting. This is THE show to watch this season.
Kurotsuji : The 'Black Butler'. A story about a super-competent butler, his bratty young master, and his 'worse than useless' co-workers. It requires "supernatural power" to fix up the mess that his co-workers ends up causing!! The story gets a lot more actions later on.

Akane Iro ni Somaru Saka :
This title of Anime is the previously more commonly known as Da Capo Series. There is not much to say about this series other than that, It is another Da Capo, You get a Range of girls with a Good-For-not-so-much Male lead with an ever pesky best friend, ending up with a girl as a wife to boot. This is a series is for those that liked watching Da Capo
Hyakko:
Adapated from a popular Manga in Japan, It contains slapstick Comedy, as a setting, however the first episode drew hardly into bringing out the humor or laughs that I was expecting as , but I can't judge this series with it's cover as Episode one only covers Character Introductions. This Series is not a boot into anywhere near the range of Lucky Star, however those that love Hirano Aya the voice actor from the famous series such as Suzumiya Haruhi's Haruhi, Lucky Star's Konata, to name a few that this is just that almost but not there taste of her Voice acting.
Rosario and Vampire : Capu 2
Rosario and Vampire's Second Season, doesn't mention much as to what it is, but for the continuation that does not flow with the original Manga as much as I expected It only boots with introducing with another girl into the already Haremic setting it has. I wouldn't give it much of a bother unless I couldn't be bothered with my assignments, I'd give it a "Lunch or Dinner Meal Anime"
Tales of the Abyss:
Being an Avid gamer of the "Tales Of" Series, this series is not something I should miss, story wise it just adapts the game's story, but gives a preen Anime outlook, with all the Previous "Tales of" Anime having a twist in plot-line, I say I'd give this a worthy follow up of my time. Characters are well developed, and for those that what to see the prettiest "Guy" around then do take a look, I'm personally saddend how much a cosmetic life the character had from the game.
Kannagi :
Title on AnimeNewsNetwork says it is "Crazy Shrine Maidens" Episode 1 doesn't show much crazy yet but for those in Japan and that have read about it, well know what's going to happen, If by any chance anyone here this season is bored and what to know what happens to a Crazy art project gone wrong, do take a look at this series, you won't be given a waste of your time-dollar, I'd give this a Worth Collecting Status
Jigoku Shoujo :Mistuganae
That Crazy little Death-Bringer is back, and with a pumped up Japan with lots of Pre-airing Crazy horror addition to the line, I wonder whats going to happen to me this time. Close to Halloween this series is a well placed Third Season to that ever so Innocent looking but let's cut your face into 2 Hell Girl Mamiko Noto once again comes up with her voice acting, following on from the first 2 series, her voice being absolutely clam yet you get that glimm sheer , what's going to happen next. I'd give it a "I'm watching this although it's a THIRD season look"
Hokuto no Ken Raoh Gaiden Ten no Haoh:
PUNCH THE HELL OUT OF THAT DUDE!!! FIST OF THE NORTH STAR IS BACK!! and this time with a twist in story, It hasn't officially aired on share as of yet, but being a pumped up FIST of the North Star Fan, that has spammed an amazing 5 years and more into the making, this is worth taking a peek at.

Week 10 , BuDoN & Ronin
Shikabane Hime : Aka by “BuDoN”
Literal Translation of this title is Corpse Princess: Red, after viewing Episode 1, I can see why, This anime has promising potential this season, The Protagonist is just a plain guy trying to understand the Corpse Princess, That by some mysterious reason dies often and by some mystical spiritual power comes back alive and does some sword slashing and killing. I won’t spoil the entire episode, but only watching it on low Definition TV-Rip I can’t wait to see it on a better HD rip. It’s definitely interesting and blood and slashing with a girl that kills things do go together. So watch out for this series!
Tentai Senshi Sunred : by Ronin
An animated parody of the old school Japanese life-action shows (The Power Ranger type). Despite the poor animation it is quite enjoyable. In a role reversal, our 'hero' is a short-tempered 'good for nothing' who lives off his girlfriend, and the villain's commander is a gentle soft-spoken guy who looks out for the welfare of his underling. The OP is sung by Manzo (he sung for Genshiken anime OP) and is very catchy. The chance of it being subbed is low though.
Macademi Washuu : “Ronin”
It's a harem anime which takes place in a magical academy. The storyline can be summed up as thus : a constant stream of girls throwing themselves at the hapless main character mixed with a lot of magical destruction. It's a show to watch when you want your mind to take a holiday. However be warned, most of the girls are LOLI
Macademi Washuu : By BuDoN
I agree with Ronin, here this is the type of show that you get just slapstick comedy and that thing you get from something like Love-Hina, especially with the first girl being a timid and shy girl but coming out with a burst of Wild power. Very disturbing… be warned it is the general harem with magic and randomness everywhere
Kurogane Line Barrels By BuDoN
Ronin has the English title below, but to be blunt as he does, The animation of this series is less than tempting, I only took a line down the watch line seeing as Mamiko Noto does the sound for the heroine, but watching the first episode it was kind of weird, the protagonist is a good for nothing person that always needs, .. help… now with a massive attack on this life, then he gains some weird massive power after meeting the Heroine Mamiko Noto gives acting to… then gets possessed by power.. really weird at the end too,, it has some interests for those that love mecha, but I am passing it as well…
Linebarrels of Iron : by Ronin
It's Jinki-extend without the rape, making the
show totally pointless. Ignore.
Hakushaku to Yousei : by Ronin
or Count and Fairy. It's the standard shoujo story involving a girl who can see fairy, and a lot of bish looking guys. Ignore.
Hakushaku to Yousei : by BuDoN
Well I’ll have to disagree on the ignore here, I am a bit interested, not because I’m weird but the story has yet to go through episode 2, however I agree ti’s the general Girl-type anime for girls that love pretty looking boys then this is another show to watch out, The voice actor for the female protagonist is Nana Mizuki
Yozakura Quartet : by Ronin
another failed manga adaptation. They lost all sense of the original by turning it into a pure action/comedy story, whereas the real attraction of the original lies with the eccentric characters and the erratic story telling. I'll give it another 2-3 episode before deciding whether to continue.
Kemeko Deluxe : by Ronin
It's a show with plenty of fan service. Unfortunately, the 'fan service' involves a short and fat female robot :-P Yes, it's another harem show. The main character is an "ordinary high school boy" who keep around a picture of a girl whom he promise to marry from 8 years ago, but have subsequently went missing. One day, a giant spacecraft crashes into his room. From the wreckage a female robot steps out and forces him to marry her. That is followed by other robots who wants to capture the main character, but they are defeated by the female robot. The female robot is actually a 'suit' that is worned by the girl from 8 years ago. The reason why she's fighting, and why other robots wants to capture the main character is still unknown. Then again, it's another HAREM story, so plot is definitely not a strong point. The comedy is ok, and the girls are 'legal' for a change. Kemeko DX #2 : More slapstick comedy, and an introduction to the 'token loli' (main character's younger sister). At least she is not 'finishable'. Another girl will be introduced next episode
Kemekko Deluxe: By BuDoN
I can hardly say I like the humor or strike in the series except for something to note that they use 2 voice actors for the little robot and the female inside it, but I think it’s just slapstick humor hardcore, animation is well nurtured with a decent director, although I go for more the good storyline since my slice of life and humor is more found in calmer titles.
Kannagi: by Ronin
It's 'loli fodder'. The premise is the standard OMG-type story. The main character carved a wooden female statue made from the log of a 'Divine Tree', and it came to life in the form of a loli. She lost her power when people no longer worship her, so she requires the help of the main character to cleanse the contaminations rising up in the town. Later in the series, she soughts to regain her power by becoming an IDOL SINGER. The story is ok, and there are some funny moments, but it's LOLI!! Kannagi #2 : I still can't get over how good the OP is. It's another fun episode as we are introduced to the 'second personality' of the main female character. The animation is excellent, especially with the hair movements.
SKIP Beat! : by BuDoN
Now this is a Bishoujo Series I’m willing to watch, Girls you will get your Bishounen , or Pretty boys, me.. I like the REVENGE.. the girl less being said get’s hurt and to get her Revenge Takes on the world of Japanese Stardom,, Episode 1 introduces the REVENGE episode 2: the Task! Those that are watching Library wars will know the seiyuu Marina Inoue with her voice very easy to identify..,, Animation is well done with good music, since the premise is Japanese J-Pop and stardom expecting decent J-pop coming from this series
Akane-iro #2 : by Ronin
Just like the other harem series, the main girl is now living under the same roof as the main character. So far, my favorite character is the main character's younger sister. In the game, the younger sister is 'finishable', even though she is blood related!! Given that the production team is the same as School Days, I have high hopes for an 'unexpected' ending!!
Tyantia : by Ronin
A new space opera from the original cast of 'Legend of Galactic Heroes', complete with man in capes sipping tea during a space battle!! It's a repeat of the theme of a brilliant commander fighting against a conquest hungry Empire, and the first episode looks promising. The existent of the 'token loli girl' is rather worrying though, but then again, this is JAPAN.
One Outs: By BuDoN
Being a Fan of Major and Sport Series, I took a peek at this anime, and to my uttermost disbelief the animation is half-assed and probably in a sense better off stuck with series like Akagi or Kaiji. Baseball premise on the mature side with bullying to it’s highest extent, Those that love the Shounen Baseball sense stay away from this otherwise if you can stand unique animation take a look at baseball with a fist.
Gundam 00 #2 : by Ronin
O Gundam to Exia to ORE ga IRU = 00 GUNDAM!! The new Gundam is finally here!! Setsuna reassmbles most of the cast of season 1, and will be rescuing the 'crazy dude' next episode. Meanwhile, Seiji just continues being his useless self.
Kyou no GO no Ni 2008: By BuDoN
This is my Type of Anime, cept, Ronin, “Ignore!” and I’m NOT! Cuz this is just the thing for those that love Slice of life and mild humor, this Anime is a remake of a small OVA about 2 years ago , about a group of 5th graders in Japan with their days , humor and just more innocent “questions innocence again” daily plain day of life jokes, humor and daily life, some episodes will strike you as,, what was that? Some will make you laugh and some will just be utmost pathetic . but with the animation studio changing from the original OVA Xebec has done a different job on character design but overall being an avid reader of the manga during it’s 4 koma time in the magazines I was reading, Episode 1 doesn’t give justice as yet since it’s just redoing it’s first few stories in the OVA. We’ll get more of a Potential to see more stories animated in the 13 Episode time frame Xebec has, Just hope they do a job to give justice to it’s predecessor.
Ga-Rei Zero By BuDoN
ULTIMATE DEATH!!! This is the modern and Ultra Mature Anime of the season In my opinion, it gets the areas of plot-line similar to that of the likes of Darker than Black to name one of a few.. Put it simply… All the main Characters die in Episode 1 !!! now how the hell was that!? I was like What the?!?!
So it really does have a catchy cliff hanger. Word of warning,, Blood and Gore has no limits in this anime. So for those of faint hearted or can’t stand gore or blood stick with my favorite Kyou no Go no Ni instead >_<
Nodame Cantabile Paris Hen by BuDoN
GODLY! First episode gives justice to the manga (well for one thing my Godly and Ronin’s Godly differs in 2 worlds) but yes those that loved the first season of Nodame Cantabile YOU CANNOT MISS THIS. Coming from my favorite studios doing the Animation J.C. Staff they do SUPERB job in animating it perfectly to the Manga and the direction is just superb. I have no Bad points at all from episode 1 or 2 at ALL.. Especially love the Opening and Ending Theme.. to Note the Ending a French and Japanese Artist Collaboration! Superb! Paris et Tokyo! I’m buying the Single once out !
Week 11 & 12
This week Ronin has taken a break from reviews as well with week 12 due to his work, however I, BuDoN will do some final coverage on the remaining titles.
Sad to say but this will be the last week of reviews as It is week 13 in University and a lot of us AnimeMQ people, are Uni students as well and have to prepare for exams.
Cashern Sins: By BuDoN
Cashen Sins is another one of those remake’s Japan is running a flood with, with my movings and internet breakage I have not yet been able to watch decent episodes of Anime, this includes Cashern Sins. I have watched one episode and to my surprise it is Decent. For one thing a remake from a 1970s anime is definitely a face-lift. Story wise I would recommend anyone who would like a small watch this season to get into this well based anime, currently still unknown how long or how many episodes this series will last, but it’s a good guarantee for a good following and a little sight into what old school Anime lovers loved back in the 80s. I would give it a 3.5 stars out of 5 for the decent animation, not to mention Madhouse doing it. (take a peek at Madhouse on ANN for their works)
Kurozuka: By BuDoN
Surprise Surpise every season has to have it flair on feudal Japan, and Kurozuka is not one to not follow. It’s a high spirited action anime , anyone who loves action will take a liking to. It has flair of Mystical as well as good Action. It even inter-twines the eras of this world into it. I watched it on a tube-quality anime without subs, and to clearly say that I didn’t fully understand the dialogue is an understatement. Be sure to follow a good translating Fansub group for this series. It is a very well animated Anime, on direction, I would question it to a certain extent, however since its action I cannot complain. Again it is done by Madhouse Productions so do expect a decent Anime. This series runs for 12 Episodes which will most definitely end in the December-ish. So if you want to pick up a short Action Anime Kurozuka is the ONE for you. 3 / out of 5 Stars.
Vampire Knight: Guilty : By BuDoN
Go guess.. yes another sequel. Following from the Vampire Knight series about 3 seasons ago, This sequel further delves into Yuuki’s past and history. More mystery , action and the odd love story or two. Girls that loved the First Season, will be please to know that the animation has not run dry and still sticks to the First Season. Guys I’m not sure, but I viewed this series on quick release as merely an entertainment during the first season. I wouldn’t give this a follow up personally, since there are more than enough Anime out this season for me to follow. Considering the FLOOD of Anime out this season, with sequels more prominent that ever, Vampire Knight Guilty does stay well done, Fans of Horie Yui will love her voice acting here with Vampire flair everywhere 3/ out of 5 stars.
Bihada Ichizoku : By BuDoN
Partly doing an Art Degree and loving entertainment such as Anime, gives myself any reason to take a peek into all the 1st episodes of most of the Anime’s coming out of this season, and Bihada Ichizoku is not going to be passed. Bored most of the time I am free, this series is quite interesting to see, as it’s a new anime with new studio, new cast . All new, but doesn’t mean it’s mediocre. It has Decent Animation and good direction from episode 1. However as per Episode 1 I am not sure who the market was intended for, could it be a recurring of the series like Maria-sama ga Miteru Series? However I can definitely say it’s a shoujo series Anime aimed at girls, but not how far to my knowledge how this generation of culture has changed in the past 10/20 years. You’ll get the all so known Glittering EYES effect in this anime. If you knew about series like CandyCandy from the mid 90s then you’ll know this doesn’t fail glittering and sparkling the eyes of the Characters, 2 out of 5 stars for Me(I’m a BOY!)
Moryou no Hako: by BuDoN
Now this series has to be a surefire winner for those that love UNKNOWN things and weird happenings. This is like Mushishi with much supernatural things happening. MADHOUSE has got a lot on their hands this season with them doing this series also. But I have to say the did a lot of work on Episodes 1 and 2. it is Based on a Popular novel in Japan, Mouryou no Hako or literally translated Box of Goblins. It’s a Mystery thriller with supernatural and weird things happening. If you loved Mushishi this is right up your aisle. I can say however seeing a perfectly preserved Head decapitated and wonderfully placed in a box with the face still laughing at you, and if you aren’t impressed at something like that , I’d say your one hell strong of a person. I got surprised just by episode 1. proves to say in this 11-12 years of watching anime , there’s always something that will shock you. 4 out of 5
Chaos;Head by BuDoN
Chaos head is based on a popular Manga in Japan Serialized in Dengeki Daioh. I have read some of the chapters and to be honest I couldn’t help but take a peek at the series. It Was originally based on a Visual Novel made by 5bp and Nitroplus, I do not know much about them but I know they have made a fair decent few games. It has high Sci-fi, Mystery and Psychological tones, with elements of Gore and Violence. ITS hell of a bloody, funny and also weird Anime together, I will continue to see the continuing episodes but from episode 1 it’s one of those Detectivelike Mystery case per episode Anime. It has 12 Episodes and once again Madhouse takes part in this but majorly only on Directing and Pre-Animation. Do take a look 2 ½ Stars out of 5
Junjou Romantica 2 : by BuDoN
I didn’t take a full look at 1 episode since it is strictly a Girl oriented Bishounen anime. Junjou Romantice or Antique Bakery 2 is a Yaoi genre Anime with a very intriguing storyline putting aside the boy-boy relationship. I cannot comment much as I don’t really watch this myself but I’ll give it a 4 out of 5 due to some replies from some of my girl friends that have told me it has a very decent story line with good character devolpment. They are continuing on this sequel so why not join the ride and take a peek? If you like it you can always look around the internet for Season 1 ^_^
Michiko to Hatchin! By BuDoN
Michiko is a Sexy carefree and will do what ever she likes. She just escaped prison and with Hatchin the Episodes just roll on, it has stunning Animation with a Setting primarily based on the Latin America such as Brazil. Music is cool too. I only too a slight preview at 3 minutes before going to sleep so I cannot say much. But it’s good graphic will keep you interested , done by a fairly new studio manglobe.
OVAs and Movies: by BuDoN
This season also is good to take note of the Massive amount of OVAs and Movies, more will be coming in November.
But here is a small Summary of the Movies and OVAs coming out
Genius Party Beyond.
Genius Party Beyond is a sequel to the 2007 film Genius Party 8 part movie. It will take on stories the first movie did not cover. It will be more like a director’s cut of the films. I have not yet watched it so It’s something to watch out for.
Goku Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei
Coming out in the the latter part of October this is just MOAR! Zetsubou sensei goodness packed into an OVA.
BioHazard: Degeneration
Based on game.. easily said.. wasn’t a fan of the game so I won’t take a peek, but those that liked biohazard, it is expected to come out with good animation.
Kidou Sensei Gundam MS igloo 2 Juuryoku sensen
MORE IGLOO!! Simply put MORE IGLOO, I watched gundam animes a lot during my life and was an avid follower before, but somehow I like IGLOO also. And it’s good to see more OVAs expanding the story.
Gunslinger 2 – OVA
It’s more of an attempt to keep the Gunslinger franchise still alive after an almost failure with season 2 of Il Treano
Switch! – OVA
It’s a Bishounen – Mystery Detective OVA – filled with decent animation and good storyline, apart that most OVAs always get more time and brainstorming done on them.
Phew, Hope that clears the list up above. Remember! There is more than what we have listed on this review of Anime coming out this season, not to mention Anime focused on KIDS such as STITCH! , Negibouzu to name a few. We don’t really review those since it is really hard to get a copy of those animes unless we’re in Japan.
